The benefits of this solution include: Valnico Farm, located in Quebec, is a five-generation family dairy operation, with the sixth generation already in place. With 85 milking cows and over 440 acres under cultivation, the farm uses a manure separation system to transform residues into animal bedding.

This system requires a daily consumption of around 500 gallons of water, usually drawn from wells, a precious resource that is sometimes insufficient in times of drought. To reduce its dependence on underground resources, the owner wanted a sustainable solution to capture, store and reuse rainwater collected on the roofs.

Challenges

A compact solution tailored to available space

The farm faced several challenges:

High Water Demand : The farm’s manure separation system required approximately 500 gallons of water daily, traditionally sourced from two artesian wells.
Space Constraints : Implementing a large-capacity water storage solution without compromising valuable farm space was a significant concern.
Groundwater Dependency : During dry periods, the wells struggled to meet the farm’s water needs, highlighting the necessity for an alternative water source.

Solution

A tailor-made tank made from KUSTOMFLO pipe.

Soleno proposed a custom-designed underground reservoir using KUSTOMFLO® high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes. This solution involved collecting rainwater from the farm’s rooftops and channeling it into the 80 m³ reservoir. The stored water is then utilized for the manure separation process, reducing the farm’s dependence on groundwater sources.
