Storm water storage: a simple and customized solution
Last spring, the developer Le Complexe de la Capitale launched Phase V of a commercial development in the Lebourgneuf area in Quebec City. What’s particular about this site lies in the fact that SNC-Lavalin, the engineering firm designing the project, under the supervision of Eduardo Caron and Claude Coulombe engineers, wanted to avoid the infiltration of water into the soil, considering the proximity of the underground parking.
Complete Case Study
The StormChamber retention basin was therefore selected and installed by J. M. Demers, the contractor. A waterproof geomembrane was placed at the bottom and on the sides of the excavated area. The installation of nearly 190 holding chambers backfilled with clean stone will allow the storage of 590 m3 of storm water for periods of heavy rain. In addition, in order to recover the runoff from the parking area above the basin, two HDPE catch basins were integrated into the chamber system.
